After several rounds of negotiations, Austria and Japan signed their long-awaited first Social Security Agreement on January 19, 2024. This agreement provides significant benefits to Austrian companies doing business with Japan and their employees. The agreement is expected to come into effect by the end of 2024 or early 2025, although implementation guidelines are still under development.
In collaboration with the Japanese law firm City-Yuwa Partners, ADVANTAGE AUSTRIA Tokyo is organizing a webinar on November 7, 2024, at 17:00 PM Japan time to present the various aspects of the agreement and highlight the benefits for companies and organizations who send their employees (including long-term expatriate assignments) to from Austria to Japan, and vice versa. Attorney, Ms. Sayako Tsukamoto, will provide an overview of the agreement’s key points and answer practical questions related to everyday business operations.

This new Social Security Agreement is expected to reduce the burden on Austrian companies and their employees working in Japan, and vice versa and therefore further promotes business activities between the two countries.
