Breakfast Meeting: The Kunsthistorisches Museum Vienna — an Imperial Institution in the 21st Century


The Kunsthistorisches Museum Vienna was built by Emperor Franz Joseph to house the splen-did imperial collections. They later turned it into one of the world’s most important museums.
Learn more about the world famous collections, cooperations, upcoming projects and exhibiti-ons, sponsoring and the reopening of the new Weltmuseum Vienna in autumn 2017.
Particular emphasis will be on the economic figures and impact the museum has on the city of Vienna.

Born in Vienna in 1974, Paul Frey studied law and was an assistant at the Institute for Legal History in the Faculty of Law at the University of Vienna. In 1999, after working for two years at an auditing firm, he became an assistant to the board at the Anker insurance company in Vienna. From 2002 to 2007, he was head of the legal department and an authorized signatory for ÖBB Postbus, and served as its Executive Director starting in 2005. Since April 2007, Paul Frey has been the Executive Director of the Museum Association of the Kunsthistorisches Muse-um with the Weltmuseum Wien and the Theatermuseum Wien. Paul Frey is also President of the Vienna Society for Legal History, a lecturer in cultural law at the University of Vienna, and an advisor to the Kunsthaus Zürich.
